Get the look - Ecuador!

It would be silly of me to be posting exactly the same as if I was still in England and not take advantage of all the culture and inspiration around me that I will most likely never experience again. So today my style crush is the country I´m currently in - Ecuador! 

The Ecuadorians womens traditional dress is closest to the Inca clothing than any other area of the Andes. Lashings of gold and beads are layered over loose blouses and shawls.

They can be worn casual or smart, in winter and in summer, to a special occasion or just shopping. They look good in any colour, material, print and on any body type, but most importantly, they´re so comfy!!

A new kind of sandal

Spring/Summer has hit the stores and usually this would incur longing and whining about the long wait for summer and the summer clothes it brings with it. But luckily theres a summer trend that we can rock now. Thanks to the 90s revival currently happening, socks and sandals, the ultimate fashion sin, has now become a fashion WIN (please excuse me).

Socks and sandals go well with any outfit and can turn a blah look into a wow look. Plain dresses, shorts and a tee can instantly be transformed into a really cool outfit. Choose black fishnet socks if you really want to stand out! Here our some of my favourite picks of the highstreet currently available!

Into Town

The first thing I wanted to buy for travelling was a white boho linen top so I headed straight for Monsoon, naturallement. I was quite literally bombarded with tops of this description and probably took about 7 or 8 of them into the changing rooms.

I mainly chose this one as it wasnt too see-through. Doesnt that totally ruin the point of having one of these loose thin material tops?? They're worn because people want to cover up but still say cool, surely?? Not to induce sweaty skin via layers. Rant over. 

Not that you can see them very well but my shorts were the second thing I went in search for. A summer wardrobe staple without a doubt. However going into any high street shop and the only style that seems to be available are the sort that show your bum. I'm going to some places were the culture is a lot different to England, in other words they don't strip practically naked at the sight of some sun, so I thought it would be more appropriate to cover up a bit more. 

Surprisingly Topshop, being the worst in selling arrays of denim pants, sorry shorts, had this pair which covered me nicely and a bit of leg, without looking too much like a 90s soccer mom.

The trainers are my custom made Nikes, I talked about them in my previous post. 

Even in the dead of winter in England I find it hard not to go by wild flowers without pulling them off and putting them in my hair. Its just something I've always done. I used to get told off in primary school for it for some reason. Here, the flowers are incredible, they're like nothing I've ever seen before, but thats what it should be like in the middle of the jungle!

Friday Night Wish List - Gold and Floaty

Oh for a night out. Exams have arrived for me and my life outside of the revision walls of my house/library/college is going to become pretty much zilch. Just because I can't go out for another 5 weeks doesn't mean I can't dream of potential outfits though right?

I don't know if its all recent viewings of the Met Gala and TV BAFTAS but I've gone all posh and fancy!

1. I've been searching for a dress like this ever since I saw Ashley Olsen and Vanessa Hudgens wearing something similar a few years ago. I love that the dress' sleeves are loose and flowing, yet still sexy with that low V cut neck. I really think this dress could look good worn in any way, be it day or night, fancy dinner or casual party. Here I've styled it up for a posh dinner maybe or a special event.

2. How amaze are these tassel earrings?? When I went to India this is what all the ladies were wearing, and I remember thinking I'd never seen anything like it. But now ASOS have gotten in there and made loads of earrings in this style. This ones probably my favourite as I love the rusty gold and the little pieces dangling down. 

3. What else would look better with this dress than a big fat statement necklace? I toyed with the idea of a colourful one, but really thought that gold  would give a more classic look. Contrast is something I'm all about and I love how the tough spikes juxtapose the soft angelic vibes of the dress.

4. I've been eyeing these beauties for weeks now and almost bought them so many times! Trying to think of a reason why not to buy them right this second! (You're meant to be saving Ruby! You have no money!!) I loooove how these shoes don't have a platform, am so over that now, come on high street, follow Zara's footsteps! Coral and gold are great colour combinations and I really couldn't fault this shoe in anyway.

5 & 6. Stacking up with rings a la Olsen twins really would finish this look off and these two gold rings fit into the rest of the outfit really well. The stone on the bird ring exaggerates its antique look, again, very Olsens. Do they ever wear anything other than vintage?
